‘Alternative jewellery for the wandering soul’
Melanie Joy is the creator behind Journey Of A Wanderess, and is a Brisbane based jewellery designer/maker. Melanie Joy specialises in an ancient technique called Cuttlefish Casting. This is a sustainable method which involves using the collected cuttlefish bone as a mould to create her designs. The flowing lines within the bone serves as a whimsical texture when creating jewellery pieces. Melanie Joy is passionate about creating beautiful and meaningful wearable artwork for her clients, using Earths treasures to bring them to life.

Melanie Joy loves handcrafting unique jewellery pieces for her clients from her home studio in Brisbane’s inner suburb, Windsor. Melanie Joy’s love for jewellery making began when she was in primary school and would spend her free time making jewellery from beads. In later years, Melanie Joy found herself exploring jewellery design in classes for fun, not realising that she would one day be expanding her passion into her own business.

These practices are inclusive of; the ethical and correct ways to dispose of harsh chemicals and toxins; the recycling and reusing of materials such as gold, silver, and wax; and the correct use of channels to obtain ethically sourced gemstones and diamonds.
